Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety Training

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Safety Training provides employees and supervisors with the practical knowledge needed to identify workplace hazards, select the correct PPE, and use it properly to reduce the risk of injury. This course explains when PPE is required, how it fits into the hierarchy of controls, and how proper inspection, use, and maintenance support a safer work environment.
Designed for real-world application, this PPE training goes beyond definitions. Participants learn how PPE is selected through hazard and risk assessment, how different types of protection apply to specific job tasks, and why PPE is considered the last line of defense when other controls cannot fully eliminate hazards. The training supports organizations in meeting PPE training expectations under OSHA standards.
This course is suitable for construction, manufacturing, warehouse, electrical, and chemical handling environments, as well as any workplace where personal protective equipment is required. Whether you need PPE for construction workers, PPE for electrical work, or PPE for chemical handling, this training provides the foundation for proper selection and use.
The training covers head protection and hard hat safety training, eye and face protection, hearing protection training, hand protection, foot protection, respiratory protection training basics, and fall protection overview including full body harness awareness.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the training take?
The course takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. Employees can pause and resume at their convenience.
Is this training OSHA compliant?
This training is designed to help organizations meet OSHA requirements for workplace safety. It covers OSHA PPE training requirements under 29 CFR 1910.132 and supports employer compliance with OSHA personal protective equipment training standards. The training addresses PPE hazard assessment, proper selection, use, and maintenance aligned with OSHA expectations.
Do employees receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon successful completion, employees can generate a certificate of completion. All progress is stored and can be accessed in the main dashboard under Learner Report.
How often should employees take this training?
We recommend annual refresher training for all employees who use PPE. Additional training is required when new hazards are introduced, when new types of PPE are required, or when an employee demonstrates lack of understanding or improper use of PPE.
Can we track completion?
Yes. Training Director provides real-time tracking of assignments, completion status, and quiz scores, making it easy to verify that all employees have completed their PPE safety training.
Does this training cover respiratory protection and fit testing?
This training provides an overview of respiratory protection training basics and respirator fit testing awareness. However, employees who are required to wear respirators must complete additional specialized respiratory protection training and undergo formal fit testing as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134. Smarter Risk offers a dedicated Respiratory Protection Training course that should be combined with hands-on training and fit testing for employees who wear respirators. This PPE course introduces respiratory protection concepts but does not replace required respirator-specific training.
Is this training appropriate for construction workers?
Yes. This PPE training covers PPE for construction workers including hard hat safety training, eye protection, hearing protection training, hand and foot protection, and fall protection basics. The training addresses PPE requirements applicable to construction, manufacturing, and general industry environments.
What types of PPE are covered in this training?
The training covers head protection (hard hats), eye and face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shields), hearing protection training (earplugs, earmuffs), hand protection (gloves), foot protection (safety footwear), respiratory protection training basics (respirators, dust masks), and fall protection overview (full body harness, lanyards).
